Housecraft Books

Introducing Housecraft Books, a boutique custom-publishing company that creates one-of-a-kind art books to preserve your family’s favorite place: Home

About a year ago, Nicole Vecchiotti watched her in-laws downsize, wishing there was a way to commemorate their three-generation home and its well-tended garden. An album would never do it justice; what this storied home deserved was a book

At the same time, her oldest was leaving for college. Short of freezing time, what she wanted was to preserve the way her family of five lived together under one roof. Sure, she could print and frame some photographs, but the moment felt more monumental than that. What she wanted was a book!

Meanwhile, Shelby Larsson was working on various book projects designed to preserve narrative and photographic histories for beloved institutions (if you’re a camp kid, you get it). She kept thinking there had to be a way to do the same thing for individuals and families.

It was in the midst of the devastating fires in Los Angeles and the floods sweeping the Southeast that they met for lunch and this idea took on real resonance. Watching people lose their homes and the meaningful artifacts they’d collected underscored the importance of holding on to what really matters–not just the structures, but the stories, the rituals, and memories that make a house a home.

Nicole and Shelby formed Housecraft Books to do just this. Working with photographers and writers, they capture your family’s home and its stories. They do their own research, often surprising clients with the history they uncover. Finally, they package it all into a dynamic and thoughtful design, creating gorgeous art books that can be printed repeatedly and handed down in perpetuity.

Whether you've always dreamed of being featured in Architectural Digest, are about to make a big life change, or have a multi-generational home chock full of memories, Housecraft Books will preserve and celebrate the place that means the world to your family: your home.

If this resonates with you, reach out to discuss your project. Because every house has a story to tell.
